The Ebony Tower represents the very keep of the creative genius, a citadel of withdrawal and introspectional pursuit. That obscure and remote, yet inexplicably familiar place to which one may seek to retreat in times of excessive creativity. Therein, beyond the veil of night and the light of day alike, lies the unspoiled treasures of the subconscious; the fathomless well of midnight waters from which springs the gushing fountains of the dark quintessential aether that serves as our source of inspiration. And verily, no light of guidance will suffice in this dark and sombre place, and one may never truly predict what to find when stirring beneath its surface. Furthermore, the Ebony Tower embodies the culmination of our Black Art, the very epitome of the cult as we reckon it.

EXCLUSIVE MARE CONCERT ANNOUNCED // NEW SONG PREMIERE

We have some rather spectacular news for you! Nidrosian Black Metal masters MARE will do a very exclusive concert at Beyond the Gates 2018, their only show next year! The event will take place at the mysteriious Hulen after midnight Thursday the 23rd of August (technically Friday the 24th, but never mind). Hulen translates into ‘The Cave’ as its literally a venue inside a cave!
To be able to create the true magic that comes with a Mare concert we have opted to stage this show in an intimate venue at witching hour that serves Mare's purpose properly. This will be a celebration of 13 years of Nidrosian Black Sorcerous Art. To accompany this announcement we have an exclusive world premiere of a new track from their upcoming album ‘Ebony Tower’ due out early 2018 through Terratur Possessions.

Here are all the technicalities:
- Visitors with a three day festival pass will be granted free entry after the first come, first served principle (capacity 300).
- There will be a limited amount of tickets available for those who do not wish to buy a full three day pass or simply want to secure your place in the audience.
- Single tickets for this event are 200 NOK and will go on sale Friday the 15th of December at 10.00 AM.
- This show will not conflict with any of the other gigs scheduled for Beyond the Gates. It will take place after the last band finish at USF.

To tie in with this announcement we have an exclusive world premiere of a new track from their upcoming album ‘Ebony Tower’ due out early 2018 through Terratur Possessions. This will go live here at 12.00. Stay tuned!

Please note that this will be the only Mare concert in 2018.

The initial Early Bird allocation has SOLD OUT, but we have made 50 additional passes available to celebrate the Mare announcement. These will go off sale again on Friday the 15th of December when the regular festival passes go on sale. Most likely they will be gone before that.

Noen som har hørt den enda? Fikk plata og sjutommeren i posten i går, skal nytes andaktig siden. Men jeg har dessverre på følelsen av at denne kom 3-4 år for sent for min del... Har falt litt av Nidrosia-baggen.

Synes platen er god, men har kanskje blitt litt vel hypet i forkant. Så blant annet noen som sammenlignet den med De mysteriis. Kan ikke si at jeg landet på samme konklusjon, men liker stemning og lyd. Lander på terningkast 4,5.

En eller annen jævel på Alnabru sitter på pakka mi med Mare. Sendt fra tyskland forrige torsdag, men ikke fått ennå.

Har gitt skiva 4 runder og den har ikke et svakt øyeblikk. Forventningene var skyhøye så jeg har ikke bestemt meg for om Mare klarte å innfri, men vi snakker uansett et av årets sterkeste album og utvilsomt den aller beste norske black metal utgivelsen på lenge. Skal jeg pirke på noe så har den klare lyden både positive og negative sider. Noe av den onde stemningen fra de tidligere utgivelsene er borte, men produksjonen får frem alle detaljer og i hodetelefoner er skiva en nytelse. Kryser fingrene for at albumet vokser ytterligere.
